For many weeks there have been numerous demonstrations against right-wing extremism and the AfD in many German cities. The trigger was the “Potsdam Conference”, at which politicians from various parties gave free rein to their fantasies about the forced expulsion of undesirable non-Germans. Now more than 30 celebrities have come together to take a stand against right-wing extremism.
The celebrities from entertainment, sports and business who spoke in yesterday’s “Stern” (February 1, 2024) include Udo Lindenberg, Helene Fischer and Michael “Bully” Herbig. According to the consensus, it is crucial that as many people as possible go to the next election: “The coming elections, in Germany and in Europe, will decide which country we will live in in the future. Do the right thing, vote! For democracy and against the extremists,” said Helene Fischer.
Your Schlager colleague Florian Silbereisen: “Nothing, absolutely nothing, justifies contempt for humanity! Never! We must ensure that no one has to be afraid – no matter what they believe in, where they come from or who they love.”
Udo Lindenberg puts the AfD at the center of his criticism: “Millions of people have shown a clear stance, the fever is rising in the streets, and the message to politicians is clear: something has to happen now, no more cozying up to the AfD’s destroyers of democracy, hard limits to the far right and no lazy compromises.”
Mario Barth leaves the role of comedian for his plea: “You have to fight racism and anti-Semitism. That is nothing to laugh about.”
National soccer player Alexandra Popp: “It is a great signal that the silent majority in this country is no longer silent, but is taking to the streets and showing their colors. “I too would like to live in a cosmopolitan and colorful Germany in which right-wing extremist ideas have no place.”
In addition to Lindenberg, Florian Silbereisen and Helene Fischer, Collien Ulmen-Fernandes, Michael “Bully” Herbig, Maite Kelly, Nelson Müller, Roland Kaiser, Mario Barth, Atze Schröder and Florian David Fitz also have their say in the magazine.
As the “Stern” states in its online reporting, Some politicians have already taken up the reporting. Including Federal Family Minister Lisa Paus (Greens) and Julian Degen (The Left).
