Marcel van Roosmalen and Wilfred Genee have had no contact with each other after their serious TV conflict a month ago. “I really haven’t heard anything more about that.”
It was extremely uncomfortable television: René van der Gijp went completely wild last month when Marcel van Roosmalen joined Today Inside. According to René, Marcel has given Wilfred Genee a slap on the wrist because of jokes about the name of his regular media buddy Gijs Groenteman.
Screaming Wilfred
A day later, Marcel made a striking revelation: according to him, Wilfred once yelled at him terribly after a broadcast. Wilfred responded laconically to that.
How are things between the two now? “After the last time he was with us and things didn’t go smoothly between him and René, strangely enough there has been no contact anymore. There have been some mutual statements about each other, but I have not heard anything more about it,” says Wilfred on Radio 538. “Yeah, weird, huh?”
Few patches
Has Wilfred already looked at the summer VI replacement Marcel & Gijs? “I have seen fragments a few times. Fifteen or twenty minutes or so, you know. I really don’t watch much TV, go to bed early, but the few times I’ve seen it I thought it was fine to look away. I think it’s cutable.”
But: “I always miss the pace that we have, of course, but well: it is a completely different genre that they make.”
Analysis
Marcel & Gijs score less than half the number of viewers that VI normally has. Do they ever call Wilfred for tips?
Sarcastically: “Every morning we have an analysis of: ‘Gijs, don’t laugh too much at Marcel’, and: ‘Marcel, remember: discussing your book a little more often, that’s very important.’ We discuss things like that together.”
