No budget control in March | Economy

The federal government is not conducting a budget review in March. The Council of Ministers decided this on Friday. There will be a report from the Monitoring Committee and the preparation of the 2025 budget will start in May.

The federal government normally checks in March and October every year whether it is on track with the implementation of the budget. This is often accompanied by tough negotiations about necessary adjustments, which is not easy just a few months from the elections and so it is not unusual that budget control is no longer carried out.

The Council of Ministers considered an action plan on Friday. The implementation of the budget will be monitored on the basis of a report from the Monitoring Committee. The technical preparations for the 2025 budget, at administrative level, will start around May. In principle, a budget should be submitted to the European Commission in October.
