No breaks for Vuelta dropout Roglic
Primoz Roglic did not sustain any fractures in his crash on Tuesday in the Tour of Spain. Addy Engels, sports director of the Jumbo-Visma cycling team, reported this on Wednesday before the start of the seventeenth stage. “The scans of this morning showed no fractures. There are many bruises and wounds,” said Engels, whose leader has left the round. “There was no doubt about that.”
Roglic, who won the last three editions of the Vuelta, was second in the standings behind Belgian Remco Evenepoel.
Roglic crashed shortly before the finish of the sixteenth stage on Tuesday. It is still not clear how that came about. The Slovenian may have hit the rear wheel of Briton Fred Wright. It is not known how long the recovery of the rider will take. Roglic also had to leave the Tour de France early this summer. A crash was also the cause.
