In the matches to be played between Feyenoord and Roma in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, away team fans will not be allowed in the stadium.
In the statement made by UEFA, it was stated that after the meetings with the Netherlands and Italy safety, the matches between the parties were evaluated as high risk and it was decided not to allow away team fans to the stadium.
Feyenoord will host Roma in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League on 13 April. The return leg of this match will be played on 20 April in Rome.
First of all, Italian officials applied to UEFA, stating that Dutch fans would not be allowed in the match to be played in the capital, Rome.
The rationale for the decision in question is based on the events in the previous matches between the two teams. In the 2022 UEFA European Conference League final, the supporters of the matching clubs clashed with each other before the match played in Tirana, the capital of Albania, and 19 police officers were injured in the incidents.
In another incident that took place on February 19, 2015, before the UEFA Europa League match between the parties, the Dutch fans who came to the capital of Italy seriously damaged the 17th century Barcaccia fountain, which caused outrage in Italy.
