No Co under ten Hag
In the summer, Fred Rutten will take over as assistant coach from Ruud van Nistelrooy at PSV Eindhoven – but the former Schalke coach turned down compatriot Erik ten Hag’s request to accompany him as an assistant to Manchester United. The 59-year-old explained the reasons on Dutch TV.
“Everyone makes their own decisions in life. I have a family, I have grandchildren I want to see. I would have felt uncomfortable with this type of project,” Rutten said at the “WAZ‘ quoted with reference to the broadcast. “At Manchester United you would get on a train that you can’t get off. I want to feel good about what I’m doing. And that’s the case with PSV,” said the current board member of Eredivisie club NEC Nijmegen. The move from ten Hag to the island was officially announced at the end of April, the 52-year-old will replace interim coach Ralf Rangnick on the sidelines at the “Red Devils” in the summer. The Dutchman should make a change at the traditional English club, most recently it was said that he had around 150 million euros available for potential transfers.

Rutten succeeded Mike Büskens at FC Schalke 04 in 2008, who had previously succeeded Mirko Slomka on an interim basis. In 37 games he averaged 1.54 points per game, after just 268 days in office the Dutchman was again replaced by Büskens.
