No agreement yet on the demolition of sagging houses Roden

The demolition of four sagging houses in the Oudcomfortstraat in Roden is still a long way off. One of the houses has not yet been bought by the Noordenveld municipality, so it cannot yet be put down. Because the demolition and rebuilding of the four homes must take place simultaneously, the project is temporarily on hold.

The houses were heavily damaged in 2017 and 2018 due to the replacement of the sewers in the district. Three of the four houses have now been bought, but the fourth house is still inhabited. The residents of the house feel too connected to the neighborhood to just leave. In addition, they would not have found a replacement home that falls within their budget.

Noordenveld wants to get started quickly with the houses in the Oudcomfortstraat. The houses are not really safe and it does not benefit the quality of life in the neighborhood either.

Since February of this year, there have been talks between the residents of the house and the municipality. The intention is that the demolition of the four sagging houses will start this autumn. The rebuilding of the four houses should start at the beginning of 2023. In the meantime, residents will have to be offered temporary housing.

Alderman Jos Darwinkel has indicated that he will start talking to the residents again next week.
