Coach Niko Kovac (50) from VfL Wolfsburg has to do without national player Lukas Nmecha (23) in the basement duel against VfB Stuttgart (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. / Sky).
“He still has knee problems and will not be there,” said Kovac. Because of the injury, Nmecha had to end the international match early. Kovac left open who should replace the attacker: “We will be able to bring a good striker.”
Wolfsburg is only penultimate in the table with five points, Stuttgart is one place ahead with the same number of points. “We have to make sure that we get the three points. That would be immensely important,” said Kovac.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Frank Witter and Jörg Schmadtke, Managing Director Sport, had expressed their confidence in Kovac during the week. Witter also pointed out: “We have a points crisis, we don’t need to explain it away. We need sporting success.”
