Leipzig (AP) – Christopher Nkunku’s contract extension with the Bundesliga soccer club RB Leipzig is linked to a sporting condition.
According to information from the German Press Agency, the French national player will only extend his contract, which runs until June 30, 2024, by one year prematurely if the club qualifies for the Champions League in the current season. The “Sport Bild” reported about it first.
Leipzig is currently fourth in the table and can qualify for the premier class with a win on Saturday at Arminia Bielefeld. As expected, Nkunku’s new contract will include a release clause that can take effect from 2023. Accordingly, the offensive star could leave Saxony for around 65 million euros.
According to “Sport Bild”, the club does not want to let Konrad Laimer go in the summer, even if he does not extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2023. FC Bayern Munich, which is said to be interested, would have to draw the exit clause of 40 million euros.
