From now on, Ilona Hartmann, Julian Knoth and Luis Ake will release music together – as njelk.
njelk is not the latest product in the range of the Scandinavian furniture store you trust, but a newly founded indie band consisting of Luis Ake, Julian Knoth and Ilona Hartmann. The trio released their debut single “MOUNTAINBIKER” on Friday (May 5th) – including a music video in the “Angela Anaconda” look, created by Matthias Krebser.
Luis Ake is actually active as a solo artist, his music can best be assigned to Eurodance. Julian Knoth sings and plays bass in several bands, including Dienerven and the Peter Muffin Trio. The formation is rounded off by Ilona Hartmann, who is less known for music and more for her humorous everyday observations on Twitter. She also published her debut novel “Land insicht” in 2020.
On “MOUNTAINBIKER” njelk express their dislike of the eponymous athletes. The bikes with ridiculously many gears, which are pushed by people with cycling shorts that are far too tight, take up too much space on forest and country paths for the trio. So they come up with a plan to finally put a stop to the mountain bikers: They set up a trap in the forest without further ado. “I let myself be inspired in Roman archives, because I want to make an example of the bikers,” sings Ake towards the end. Musically, the song is mainly characterized by the fast drum computer beat and the distinctive bass line.
“njelk destroyed my life”
Already on March 17, a new Instagram account with the name published “njelkmemes” a joint photo of the three new band colleagues. “njelk has destroyed my life” it said in the caption.
The profile’s second contribution followed on Thursday (May 4th): njelk announced the debut single and thus heralded the “VERNJELKUNG”.
