Since the much-discussed nitrogen ruling of February 2021, far fewer permits have been applied for and issued to the agricultural sector. This is evident from recent figures from the environmental counter. According to Flemish Minister of the Environment Zuhal Demir (N-VA), the figures “prove that the further implementation of the nitrogen agreement is in the interest of farmers themselves in order to be able to obtain permits in the future”.
