New generation for the largest model from the Japanese company. Numerous solutions to satisfy different needs. However, diesel engines will be available
With a pinch of (understandable) emphasis, Nicolas Tschannresponsible for light commercial vehicles at Nissan Europedefined the new Interstar as “the ideal partner for everyday heroes”, with the correct reference to the fact that the greatest among Light Commercial Vehicle of the Japanese company focuses a lot on versatility of use and on peculiarities that go beyond the declared kinship with its ‘cousin’ master’s degreebased on history partnerships on the topic with Renault. The new Interstar succeeds the generation that remained on the market for thirteen years. It comes with a front which, starting from sheet metal devoted toaerodynamic optimizationfinds personality, grafting into the grille Interlock 1.0 – typical of several Nissan salespeople known to date – the design V–Motion, new reference for Nissan vehicles. The range is initially developed on vans (which are credited with a 20% reduction in aerodynamic resistance) with two lengths and two heights for capacities starting from 10.5 cubic meters – but the final objective is set at 22 -, always front-wheel drive. Pre-orders can be placed starting from March 2024 – with prices to be communicatedwhile the first vehicles will arrive at dealerships starting from September.
motorizations, battery weight

It’s clear that Nissan has worked hard to make it especially attractive electric variant of Interstar which can count on a unit from 130 HP (96 kW) associated with a 40 kWh battery (200 km of autonomy declared in the WLTP combined cycle) or on a 143 HP (105 kW) powered by 87 kWh batteries (up to 460 km in the same conditions). In the first case, the alternating current battery charger is 7 kW, while optional the 11 kW one, which becomes standard in the second case, where the option is the 22 kW system; in direct current the charging power is 50 and 130 kW respectively. Thinking about the market, there is no shortage of turbodiesel (single with variable geometry) 4-cylinder 2.0 liter engine in the 105, 130, 150 or 170 HP versions is associated with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which in the case of the two most performing calibrations can be replaced (subject to switching to the homologation class heavy duty) from a 9-speed ZF automatic. The choice of total weights ranges from 3.3 to 3.5 tonnes, with the option of 4 tonnes for the electric one: in this case the declared capacity goes from 1,125 to 1,625 kg.
The CAMPER version is coming soon

Subsequent additions to the range with double cab vans a 6 or 7 seatsflatbeds and chassis cabs will culminate in rear-wheel drive, twin-wheel (likely diesel only) 3.5 or 4.5 tonne models (scheduled for 2025), which Nissan says should take up the legacy of cab-forward chassis like theNT400 Cabstar, specialized in small urban construction. In the Japanese manufacturer’s ambitions for Interstar there is no shortage of camping vehicle sector – never so developing, on the van front – and the transport of people with minibuses over nine seats. And whether the initial focus of commercial activities will be on the activities of small businesses and fleets dedicated to last mile deliveries. If we are not yet talking about prices, about warranty yes: 5 years or 160 thousand kilometres, 8 years or the same mileage for the battery of the electric version.
