The psychedelic visualizer is released in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of IN UTERO.
For the 30th anniversary of Nirvana’s IN UTERO, not only have remastered versions of the 1993 songs been announced, but a new music video for “Dumb” has also been released.
The video’s director, illustrator and animator RuffMercy, has worked with bands such as Blur and Run The Jewels. The Brit created the psychedelic visualizer for “Dumb” on hand-painted 8mm film. When the clip was released, he wrote in an Instagram post: “You know this makes me smile.”
The anniversary edition of IN UTERO will be released on October 27, 2023. There will be various box sets consisting of LPs, CDs and both together. For the 30th anniversary of the record, in addition to the original songs from the work, there are also some previously unreleased live versions of many tracks. The live recordings of the tracks “Pennyroyal Tea” and “Scentless Apprentice” have already been released in advance. You can find out more about the IN-UTERO anniversary here.
Looking back, Dave Groll says in the biography “This Is Call” about the band’s career and the success of their albums: “IN UTERO was of course a direct reaction to the success and sound of NEVERMIND. We just pushed ourselves in the other direction, like, oh really, you like that? Okay, then look what we do now! But it’s a difficult album for me to listen to from start to finish. Because it’s so real, and because it’s such an accurate reflection of the band at the time, it brings back different memories. It kind of gives me goosebumps.”
