Nine recreational homes in Schipborg will not be given a permanent residential destination

Nine holiday homes on Zeegserweg in Schipborg will not receive a permanent residence permit. This has been decided by the municipal council of Aa en Hunze.

It concerns the odd numbers 1 to 17. Residents of the homes knocked on the door of the municipality to see if they could transform as a whole from a recreational destination to a residential destination. But that didn’t work out.

The biggest hindrance to changing the destination is that too much noise nuisance from the N34 is measured at two homes. The Noise Pollution Act does not apply to holiday homes. That is for a residential destination. It has therefore also been decided not to issue a permanent residence permit for the other homes.

For holiday parks, the municipality assumes ‘a park, a plan’. This requirement cannot be met if some of the houses are used for residential purposes and some of the houses are used for recreation. The council of Aa en Hunze has therefore decided not to change the zoning plan for all homes.

The residents of the park often live there permanently, despite the fact that it has no residential destination, says alderman Bas Luinge (VVD). “We don’t know how we are going to enforce at the moment, we still have to discuss this with residents. But we want to give them time, because we understand that this is a disappointment. Whether we are going to help the residents look for a other homes, the law does not yet know. We will also discuss this.”

Owners of the homes in question will retain the option of renting out the homes or using them as a recreational home. It is not yet known when people will have to leave their homes. The municipality will prepare this and inform the owners about this. In addition, they say that everyone is given time to find a suitable solution.

A number of these owners have been active for years to draw the attention of the municipality and the city council to be allowed to transform, the municipality says. “Over the years, the recreational use of the homes has increasingly decreased. Owners or tenants have moved in permanently or for a long time, which is contrary to the applicable zoning plan.”
