Award-winning radio host and reality star Niko Saarinen has bought a first home. Saarinen tells about it on the Nikotellen podcast.

Saarinen, who is from Uusetakaupunki, lives in Helsinki, but says that the city is no longer an obsession for him. Saarinen lives elsewhere rather than right in the heart of it.

He says that his dream job currently ties him to Helsinki. His new home is in a quiet neighborhood.

Saarinen says that over the past year, he has started to be bothered by how much he pays in rent.

– The rent for my current apartment is 1300 (euros), Saarinen says and continues that in his opinion it is an absurd amount.

Saarinen says that about seven years ago, when he lived in Sörnäis, his pain limit for rent was 750 euros.

The bank’s loan offer surprised Saarinen.

– The apartment that I finally made an offer for – I could have bought twice the price of the apartment. So the bank’s accordion was really big for me. I set myself a golden mean. I started looking for something really cheap compared to what I could have bought in this situation, says Saarinen.

Saarinen says that he wanted a sauna and a balcony in his apartment. He got them too.

The Nikotellen podcast can be listened to in the Podme service.

Niko Saarinen is the new Radio Presenter of the Year. He gave an interview to Iltalehte shortly before his award. Also in the interview is NRJ host couple Julianna Jokela.
