Nike launches Web3 project Swoosh

Nike brings the Swoosh to the Web3. The US sporting goods supplier launches Swoosh, a Web3-based platform and community.

Swoosh uses blockchain-based technologies and is a home for Nike’s virtual creations, the company announced on Monday. Members should be informed about digital and virtual creations on the platform and ultimately be able to buy and collect them. “We are designing a marketplace of the future with an accessible platform for the Web3-wary,” said Ron Faris, General Manager Nike Virtual Studios. “This new platform will allow the Swoosh community and Nike to create, share and benefit together.”

Registration for the platform, which is currently in beta, is scheduled to open at the end of the month. Nike plans to expand the platform and its community over the course of the year, initially focusing on the USA and individual European countries. Community members can get access to physical products or special events like talks with athletes or designers.

Next year, Nike plans to launch a digital collection designed by the Swoosh community. The sporting goods manufacturer is then planning several digital competitions. The winners may help design other digital products of the brand and should receive a license fee for the corresponding virtual products.
