Nike and RTFKT release virtual sneaker

Nike and Metaverse fashion company Rtfkt have unveiled their first collaborative virtual sneaker. The boot, a digital version of the classic Nike Dunk model, has been available since the weekend on Rtfkt’s website and via NFT marketplace Opensea.

A YouTube video published by Rtfkt shows that owners can customize their virtual sneakers with different skins featuring a variety of colors, prints, textures and ornaments. Nike and Rtfkt have already released eight different skins, with more to come.

Rtfkt is a relatively new company founded in 2020 by Benoit Pagotto, Chris Le and Steven Vasilev. Rtfkt uses the latest techniques in gaming engines, NFTs, blockchain and augmented reality to create virtual products and experiences. The US sportswear company acquired Rtfkt in December with the goal of further expanding the company and creating new opportunities for Nike in the digital world.
