Dutch professional footballer Bas Dost has been discharged from hospital after collapsing during a match due to an inflamed heart muscle.
The 34-year-old striker is continuing his rehabilitation at home, said his club, the NEC Nijmegen, on Friday with. A defibrillator was used. “I’m happy to be back home and will now recover in peace”said Dost, according to the statement. “I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in the past. We really appreciate it.”
The former Bundesliga professional from VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt collapsed in the final phase of the game at AZ Alkmaar at the end of October and had to be resuscitated on the field. He was then taken to the hospital. The game was abandoned in the 90th minute when the score was 2-1 for Nijmegen. The game is scheduled to finish on December 6th.
