Nightmare instead of teddy bear: new trailer for Winnie the Pooh horror film

When most people think of Winnie the Pooh, or Pooh Bear, they think of a cute bear with an affinity for honey, either in the original Alan Alexander Milne children’s books or as a Disney character.

But as of August 2022, Milne’s books have been out of copyright. Disney’s version is still taboo, but if you keep your distance from the Disney bear in your own Pooh story, it seems like the path is clear for creatives of all kinds. And anyone who knows movies like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies knows what that means.

Horror film director Rhys Frake-Waterfield didn’t wait long to bring his slasher version of the classic to life. The plot: Christopher Robin has grown up and has forgotten and neglected his childhood animal friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. When he does return to show his college friend the place, she finds it transformed: without food, they’ve had to revert to their animal instincts.

If you want to have your childhood heroes in cuddly memories, you should probably stay away from this film. For horror fans, however, it’s a chance to see familiar characters like Pooh and Piglet from a completely different angle.
