It seems to happen regularly, and so did last February: on the Fluytstraat in Den Helder, a fireworks bomb was lit and passed through a letterbox. stopped. It had already been tried in the city two days earlier. 28-year-old Tim K. is suspected of having done this, but he firmly denies it. “I didn’t do it, I’m innocent.”
It is more common in Den Helder, fireworks bombs that destroy facades or cars. Often no one is caught, but now the judiciary has a suspect in mind.
The fireworks bomb caused quite a bit of damage last February. The facade of the house on Fluytstraat was damaged, the front door was dislocated and part of the interior was destroyed, the NHD wrote at the time. The Public Prosecution Service suspects Tim K. of causing the explosion and also believes that he also tried something similar two days earlier.
De Nieuwedieper is stuck in prison in Alphen aan den Rijn, but hopes to be released soon (for the time being). Especially because otherwise he will lose his house. “His mother now pays the rent,” says his lawyer, “but she has indicated that she can no longer do this. He now finally has his own home and would benefit from getting into stable waters.”
In addition, the lawyer argues that the judiciary does not have enough evidence. But the Public Prosecution Service disagrees.
‘Pickles’
K. continues to claim to be innocent, although he is willing to cooperate in a treatment. “I finally had prospects for great developments. For example, I would do an internship with the prospect of a job. Now I’m in danger of losing my home and becoming homeless. Very sour. Before and during my detention I had psychological complaints; admission to the GGZ was advised. I’m open to that: I want to solve the problems and traumas I’ve had in the past.”
It will be months before the court hears the substance of the case. She does decide now whether K. should remain detained longer or not, she will share her decision later today.
