Tennis player Jule Niemeier missed the semifinals at the WTA tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The 23-year-old from Dortmund lost in the round of eight against the Italian Jasmine Paolini 5: 7, 5: 7.
Niemeier, who celebrated her international breakthrough this year at the Grand Slam tournaments in Wimbledon (quarter-finals) and at the US Open (round of 16), hit seven aces, but made just as many double mistakes.
Niemeier was the last remaining German in the tournament’s singles competition.
