National basketball player Niels Giffey is leaving the Lithuanian record champion Zalgiris Kaunas after just one season, the club said.
The 31-year-old Berliner averaged 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in the Euroleague, while the winger delivered similar numbers in the Lithuanian league.
Giffey had previously played for ALBA Berlin for seven years and was captain of the German champions.
In total, Giffey played 398 competitive games for the capital club and celebrated two championships as well as two cup wins.
Nothing is currently known about his sporting future.
