Nicolette van Dam causes annoyance with her melodramatic posts about her torn cruciate ligament and meniscus. “God girl, isn’t your sense of perspective just a bit gone?”
The winter sports holiday of Nicolette van Dam and her lover Bas Smit fell into the water at the end of February and the beginning of March, because she tore her cruciate ligament and meniscus at an awkward moment. Fortunately, her phone survived the fall, so she could post extensively about her medical situation on Instagram.
‘Everything even more intense’
Nicolette immediately threw it all online, after which the usual hearts of the celebrities poured in. Connie Witteman even came up with medical advice: “Omg 😱 how intense. I had too. I didn’t have it operated on. Came home, every day on the power plate stand up and after four weeks I ran the half marathon! Really and truly.”
In the following days, Nicolette posted all kinds of melodramatic texts like: ′′ It’s all getting used to and sometimes quite confrontational since my 🦵🏼. We always enjoy together but it seems like everything has become even more intense. And I am very grateful for that.”
Ode to Bass
At one point, Nicolette’s followers also received an ode to Bas. Very sweet: “Shoutout to my love who made it an unforgettable week for us, despite everything. Literally drags me through this day and night and removes my insecurities. What a rollercoaster of emotions. Even closer together as a family.”
And so it went on and on: “The roles have suddenly changed and we are all a bit confused. We’ll see what’s to come. But with my great love by my side, I can take on the world.”
Relativity
Heavily exaggerated, according to the dreaded columnist Stéphanie Hoogenberk. She says in her podcast The Shit Show: “I am very afraid – and that is a serious concern – that Nicolette van Dam has lost all her sense of perspective. (…) It just sounds a bit like she is in the terminal phase.”
Stéphanie doesn’t quite understand the ode to Bas either. “He dressed the kids. And that is something very special, because he normally does not do that. They seem to have a very traditional division of roles. You see that more often in Old South.”
“God, girl…”
Nicolette also mentioned that she watched a documentary about football player Federico Chiesa and his torn cruciate ligament. She called it “intriguing and inspiring.”
Unbelievable, says Stéphanie. “So she now gets her inspiration from a football player… So Nicolette is a bit on that level. And I do think: God girl, isn’t the ability to put things into perspective a bit gone for a while?”
Actual life
Critical reactions also came in on Nicolette’s own Insta. For example, Miranda says: “Sorry to say this, but do you realize what you are saying? One twisted knee in your life! There are people who deal with serious illnesses, children who are sick, problems with the energy bill. And your life would become even more intense? When do you see real life?”
And Carla about Nicolette’s ‘shout out’ to Bas: “I think it’s normal, isn’t it, that you do this for your partner?”
