Nicolas Ghesquière will continue to design the women’s fashion collections of the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton. The 52-year-old has extended his contract as artistic director for womenswear, the fashion house, which is part of the LVMH Group, announced on Tuesday. Ghesquière took over the post in autumn 2013 as the successor to Marc Jacobs.
Pietro Beccari, CEO of Louis Vuitton, praised the designer in a statement as a “true creative genius” who had succeeded in “redefining the Louis Vuitton women’s fashion universe.”
Ghesquière is also looking forward to continuing the collaboration. “It is a true honor to continue writing the history of Louis Vuitton,” he said in a statement. “We started the first chapter ten years ago, creating a new identity based on exceptional heritage and a constant focus on innovation. Above all, I have the privilege of leveraging the talent and expertise of the fashion house and its teams to develop new codes.”
