Noicolas Cage he would be “in serious negotiations” to take on the role of Spider-Man Noir in a live-action series that Amazon has in the works. The 60-year-old actor has already voiced Peter Parker in Spider-Man Noir in the 2018 animated film Spider-Man – Into the Spider-Verseand now he would therefore return to stepping into the shoes of Spider-Man.

Last month, rumors leaked about the making of S’s own sequelpider-Man – A new universe. But Nicolas Cage had clarified in an interview with Screen Rant that Sony had not asked him to return to lend his voice to the monochrome Spider-Man from the alternate universe set in the 1930s, but had declared all his admiration for the character. «I love Spider-Man Noir. I think he’s a great character. He is the coolest superhero in the entire Spider-Man series. And then he brings together Cagney, Bogart and Edward G. Robinson. Come on, he’s a great character.”
The new live-action series

Apparently, therefore, Amazon has seized the opportunity and, according to the rumors collected by The Ankler is trying to cast Nicolas Cage himself to take on the role of the superhero in his own live-action series. Series which, as anticipated by Variety about ten days ago, it still doesn’t have a title. But we already know that she will tell about the exploits of «an older, grizzled superhero in 1930s New York» and which will most likely debut during 2024. A source close to the project, however, explained to the American site that the series «will be set in its own universe and the main character will not be Peter Parker».
The second Amazon project
The one Nicolas Cage should participate in is the second Amazon project based on the Marvel character: in 2023 Sony Pictures (which holds the rights to Spider-Man and 900 other Marvel superheroes) officially announced an agreement with MGM+ and Jeff Bezos’ company to develop several new television series, including Silk: Spider Society.
Spider-Man Noirthe series
As regards the series relating to Spider-Man Noir, we already know that the executive producer and screenwriter is Oren Uziel, who developed the screenplay together with the producers of Spider-Man – Into the Spider-Verse Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and former Sony chief Amy Pascal.
Spider-Man Noir debuted in 2009 as part of the Marvel Noir universe. In this version of the story, the superhero lives in New York during the Great Depression, and is bitten by a spider hidden in a stolen artifact: in this way he begins to have visions of a spider-god who gives him superpowers.
