Whether Niclas Füllkrug will continue to hunt for goals for Bundesliga club Werder Bremen is still completely open after the first matchday. Now the German international is being traded by a top European club.
Renowned Italian club AC Milan are interested in signing Niclas Füllkrug. This is reported by “Bild” and “Sport Bild”.
The Serie A club is currently looking for a new centre-forward, the Rossoneri recently parted ways with former Frankfurt attacker Ante Rebic. The Croatian now strikes for Turkish club Besiktas.
In addition to Füllkrug, Milan are said to have eyed another Bundesliga player in Sardar Azmoun from Bayer Leverkusen, the report also says. The advertising from Italy does not seem to be really concrete yet. “So far we haven’t received anything,” said Bremen’s football boss Clemens Fritz on “Bild”.
After bankruptcy against FC Bayern: Füllkrug reacts to questions about the future
There has been speculation about Füllkrug’s future with the Hanseatic League for months. The 30-year-old has had an offer to extend his contract early for some time, and his working paper is currently valid until 2025.
After the season opener on Friday against FC Bayern, who reportedly also had the striker on their list in the meantime, Füllkrug appeared visibly thin-skinned at “ran” when his lack of signature was discussed. “I’m not interested now. Totally uninteresting today, really. Believe me,” he replied to the reporter and broke off the interview.
According to the tabloid, Werder Bremen would not oppose a transfer if the transfer fee is right and a successor can be found. At least 20 million euros are therefore called for the filling jug. The transfer window is open until September 1st.
