Beefs in the hip-hop area are not unusual. Now a new one between rapper Nicki Minaj and R&B singer Sza seems to have sparked. Already on Tuesday (July 15th) the two artists teamed up, now they are continuing their feud.

On Thursday (July 17th) there was once again a dispute on the platform X. Nicki Minaj reposted a video of the Met Gala 2018. The clip shows how Sza gives an interview while Rihanna is running in the background. SZA then tries to get Rihanna’s attention, but this does not seem to react.
Minaj wrote to the post: “Lol.” These are the wrong girls who just talk, but put down for a photo or do something in front of the camera, so to do it as if they are not the haters they really are. I wonder what they have invalidated the interviewer. Man, it is so liberating to be really.
The hashtag used refers to Desiree Perez, CEO of the Roc Nation label, which Nicki Minaj has also criticized several times to X. In a current lawsuit, her daughter Demoree Hadley claims that her mother illegally be forced to a psychiatric institution for almost two weeks.

In response, SZA posted a screenshot of a five-year-old SMS exchange, in which Nicki Minaj asks a member from Sza’s team for a possible feature. “I have this hook and think she would sound dope on it,” Minaj said at the time about Sza.
Sza commented on the picture with the words: “Nicki. You know my music and my contribution absolutely, because you asked twice to get features without receiving an answer. In addition, you rap my texts on Feeling MySelf – ‘Cooking up the bass looking like a kilo’? Lol … I’m not sure why, but it is blessed.”
In fact, SZA has official Writing credits on Nicki Minaj’s song “Feeling Myself” with Feature Beyoncé. The song was released in 2014 on Minaj’s album The Pinkprint.
More swipes – how far escalates the beef?
The dispute had started with a post from SZA on X. In it she wrote: “Mercury declines … don’t swallow the bait lol stupid goose.”
Although she didn’t mention anyone directly, Nicki Minaj personally took the post. Shortly before, she had distributed on X against Terrence “Punch” Henderson, the President of the Label Top Dawg Entertainment. Minaj claimed that he used to bullied her online for no reason and she collected evidence of this. Minaj interpreted the tweet of Sza as a swipe against him and reacted immediately. Since then there have been mutual taunts again and again. How much this beef will expand is currently not foreseeable.
