Nick & Simon the new Frank & Rogier? ‘SBS 6 will suck’

Nick & Simon continue to occupy the minds. They put an end to their musical duo, but will continue together as a TV duo. Are we dealing with the new Frank & Rogier here?

Most people think that Nick Schilder and Simon Keizer performed a play in the talk show of Eva Jinek. They saw from the body language of both gentlemen that there is indeed a fight about their approaching end as a musical duo. But how should this proceed? After all, there are still some TV jobs in the pipeline.

‘SBS 6 will suck’

Nick & Simon will, among other things, be part of the very expensive SBS 6 show Avastars, Aran Bade has revealed in RTL Boulevard. The question is whether the viewers of that program still find them credible, says former SBS boss Tina Nijkamp. “I wouldn’t be happy with it as a broadcaster. Have they reported their impending farewell to the broadcaster?”

Tina points out that the last recordings were already in July. If that comes on television in November or December, it will be strange for the viewer to see Nick & Simon busy. “So that is going to be very ‘old’ and ‘recorded a long time ago in the TV studio’ and may even feel like a repetition for the viewer.”

She thinks SBS 6 sucks. “That is NOT good for the ratings at all.”

Frank & Roger

Natacha Harlequin wonders in Shownieuws whether Nick & Simon really want to continue as a TV duo or whether agreements have already been made that they still have to fulfill. “Of course it can also be contractual obligations.”

The fallen TV duo Frank Jansen and Rogier Smit also suffered from this. They were in a divorce, when they actually had to make programs for RTL 4. “I think that will be a difficult affair. Then you have to be on screen and last week we all saw how difficult that is,” says Natacha’s colleague Patty Brard.

big boon

Shownieuws star Bart Ettekoven fears the worst. “We have of course also seen at Frank & Rogier that when the chemistry is gone… If there really is a big bonje, which is now being suggested… Do we want to see it? Are we seeing things that aren’t there? That, of course, remains a bit of a question.”

He wonders if Nick & Simon wouldn’t be better off trying to get out of their contractual obligations. “You wonder: why are you still going on together on television? There has to be a certain chemistry for that. If it isn’t there anymore, you’d better split up completely.”

Warm tires

Ronald Molendijk thinks that Nick & Simon are professional enough to handle everything properly. “We have here [bij Shownieuws] also all of us now and then that you have to sit down with a colleague of whom you think: well, I don’t have a very warm relationship with that.”

Private boss Evert Sankrediets thinks otherwise. After all, Nick & Simon make entertainment. “As for the television making, I’ll tell you, I’ve yet to see it.”
