Nick & Simon are annoyed with their latest TV plans. The gentlemen announced just before the weekend that, despite their alleged quarrel, they will make a series about The Beatles.
With presenter Kees Tol in the middle, Nick & Simon have been making docuseries about all kinds of famous artists for years. After series about Simon and Garfunkel and ABBA, it’s now The Beatles’ turn. It is therefore inevitable that the two Volendammers will also cover all kinds of legendary hits from that band.
Terrible
A very bad plan, according to presenter and Beatles fan Gijs Groenteman. The presenter expresses his horror about their TV plans in his Media Inside program. “I think it’s terrible,” he says resolutely.
He continues: “I am very sorry that a duo that has actually fallen apart – all those people can’t look at each other anymore – and have never really shown themselves in very good taste… That Nick & Simon are now about The Beatles pour out. I find it very hard to bear.”
‘I’m not going to watch’
Table guest Wouke van Scherrenburg finds it completely uninteresting what Nick & Simon do anyway. “I sympathize very much with you. The only thing I ever understood about this duo is that they stopped working together and they didn’t want to work together anymore.”
Gijs: “They no longer looked at each other.”
Wouke: “I just heard from your unsurpassed editorial staff that they are going to make a Beatles program and I don’t know more about it. I’m not going to watch it and don’t want to know about it.”
‘Boycott!’
Gijs believes that the gentlemen should be boycotted by Dutch television viewers. “My mouth fell open. I’m not going to watch either.”
He concludes: “I think it would be very good if we all just boycott this.”
