A town in southern Brandenburg is very concerned: Nick Frischke (22) from Döbern has been missing in South Africa since last Wednesday. He sent his mother one last photo from a clothing store in Cape Town.
The Brandenburger was alone on the way to Karbonkel-Berg in Table Mountain National Park and has since disappeared without a trace. “He was previously with a mountaineer, but that day he went alone,” says his brother Tom Frischke to the BZ
That same day, Nick sent his mother a photo of him trying on a hat for the hike in a shop. At 1 p.m. the video camera caught him on the way to the mountain, at 4 p.m. local time the young man had cell phone reception for the last time.
The first search operation in the mountain region was unsuccessful. Local authorities used drones and helicopters to search for the missing person. The police suspect that he might have fallen down the mountain or be in a helpless situation.
His brother has a different theory: “The crime rate in the country is not low,” says Tom Frischke. However, there is still no evidence of this.
As the local police spokesman Andre Traut announced, the search for the missing person could not be continued on Monday due to the bad weather conditions. However, the search operation will be continued again under better conditions.
The family of the missing person is also looking for Nick on social networks. He has booked his return flight for this Thursday. Everyone hopes that he gets on the plane and comes back home.
Nick still has so much to do. After successfully completing his bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering, he wanted to start his master’s degree in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
