Nick Ritchie moves to Germany, DEL league Iserlohn Roosters, reports Kaleva on its website on Sunday night.
Kärppi’s sports director Mikko Myllykoski confirmed to Kaleva the cancellation of the contract and the finding of a new club.
Ritchie, 28, arrived in Oulu in November with the experience of 500 NHL games. Expectations were high, but it quickly became apparent that his playing condition and speed do not meet the requirements of the top reinforcement.
– Kärpät cannot offer Ritchie a big enough role in the team for the rest of the season, so he is free to look for a place to play elsewhere, Myllykoski commented on Kärpät’s website earlier this week.
– When he was offered, we knew he was a high risk / high reward style card that we thought was worth looking at. However, he was not able to rise to the role we would have needed him to play.
Ritchie recorded five power points and 70 ice minutes in ten league games. I managed to fit in a short trip Markus Nurmen an eight-match suspension for rough fisting.
