Earlier this year, the 27-year-old Australian tennis player announced that he had suffered from suicidal thoughts years ago. Kyrgios also suffered from loneliness, depressive feelings and he took excessive alcohol and drugs.

“I’ve lost my little brother for much of the past six or seven years,” his brother Christos wrote in a column for the Sydney Morning Herald. “The world has changed him. Tennis changed him. He got distracted, always worried about something. People don’t know this, but Nick and I didn’t talk to each other for a long time. He was so unhappy with himself that he shut out the people who wanted the best for him.”

Christos added that he now has his little brother back. He credits Nick’s girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, for helping change his brother’s life. “Since he met Costeen, she has helped open his eyes again. There was a lot of chaos in his life before he met her,” said Christos.

“I believe Nick Kyrgios is going to show the world that he is the Wimbledon champion on Sunday. We already have our little brother back. Mom and Dad have their son back. He is already a champion in all our eyes. Watching him mature and return to the happier version of himself is all I could have asked for. I just want to see him win in all aspects of life.”
