It is the third lawsuit against the Backstreet Boys singer since December 2022.
After the first allegations of sexual abuse in December 2022, Nick Carter is now being accused of alleged rape by a third woman.
The anonymous plaintiff accuses the Backstreet Boys member of sexually assaulting him several times in 2003. He is said to have abused her at the age of 23 under the influence of alcohol both on board a yacht and on a bus. The plaintiff was 15 at the time.
Carter vehemently denies the allegations. As his attorney, Dale Hayes Jr., told TMZ, “When the woman made her allegations against Nick two decades ago, authorities investigated her allegations and found no grounds to press charges.” He also stressed that the woman had “repeated the same false allegations in a new lawsuit,” which does not make it “more credible.”
In December 2022, shortly after the death of Nick Carter’s younger brother Aaron Carter, Shannon Ruth made the first allegations against the singer. In 2001, when the plaintiff was 17, he allegedly sexually abused her. Ruth told The Sun: “The last 21 years have been filled with pain, confusion, frustration, shame and self-harm that are a direct result of my rape by Nick Carter,” it said. “Even though I’m autistic and have cerebral palsy, I don’t think anything has affected me more than what Nick Carter did and said to me.”
Carter filed a counterclaim, saying he had witnesses who could testify to the allegations as untrue.
In April this year, Melissa Schuman sued Carter five years ago for an alleged sexual assault that allegedly took place in 2002. At the time, however, it was said that the case was statute-barred and no official charges were ever brought. Now, however, a change in the law allows a new lawsuit against the singer.
