Nice cycling with google maps

Google’s map service has more to offer: cyclists are informed about roads and climbs, sights can be admired all around and contacts are better monitored or guarded.

Google Maps now shows cyclists more about their route. Not only the height differences, but also whether heavy car traffic or steep hills are part of the route is indicated in the detailed information, according to Google on its blog.

The user can thus see the gradient and type of road for each section of the route.

Also new: photorealistic aerial photos of almost 100 popular sights around the world.

The so-called immersive view combines artificial intelligence with high-resolution street view, satellite and aerial images to create an all-round view. The perspective is reminiscent of a drone flight.

The update also introduced location sharing notification.

Here’s how it works: A user enters that they want to be notified when their contact has reached or left a specified location. This could be practical to protect yourself if someone is traveling alone. In this way, family and friends could be notified when the person has returned home or arrived at the next destination.

According to Google, this feature only works with contacts who have previously shared their location with the notify. The person whose location is queried is also regularly reminded of the release via e-mail and push message.
