Nibali negative at Covid: he could return to Laigueglia or the Tirreno-Adriatico

The Shark will carry out a molecular test to confirm the outcome of the quick test done in the morning: if the negativity is confirmed, it will be able to return in the first or second week of March

Vincenzo Nibali performed a quick swab this morning and tested negative for Covid, according to Astana doctor Emilio Magni reported: the 37-year-old Sicilian, who returned to the Kazakh team this season after the four-year 2013-2016, was positive on February 13. He never had any major symptoms, but it took him a little longer than expected to get negative.

Return

Nibali will now also make a PCR molecular swab for internal use at Astana for further confirmation: the result is expected for tomorrow. The race for the return to competition for the Shark, which had made its debut from 2 to 6 February at the Vuelta Valenciana, is still uncertain: it could return on Wednesday 2 March at Laigueglia, the race of the seasonal opening in Italy. Or directly to the Tirreno-Adriatico from 7 to 13 March, even if obviously the condition cannot be as expected.
