Niall Horan: One Direction Members Are Still Close Because They “Never Believed The Hype”

According to Horan, they have never lost their down-to-earth nature and still share their latest tracks with each other.

Niall Horan believes he and his former One Direction bandmates are still so close because they “never believed the hype.” While the boy group never officially disbanded, they have been inactive since 2016. A comeback was announced for March 2017, but has not happened so far. All five singers now have solo careers.

In a snippet of an interview that hasn’t been released in its entirety yet, Niall Horan opened up about how they avoided the “fire” that could have sent them into the abyss. “I just think we never believed the hype,” said the 29-year-old. “The state of shock was always there. You have to understand, it was us, our team, our bubble, and we just traveled around the world from place to place and kind of didn’t give it that much thought,” Horan said. And further: “We have always said that we are normal people doing an abnormal job, which is a good perspective”.

The Irishman also recalled a 2014 One Direction tour entitled Where We Are. The five singers chose this name because they kept saying to themselves back then: “Look where we are”. “Every once in a while you catch yourself looking at each other and going, ‘That’s crazy!'” Horan added.

In another interview, Horan revealed that he often sends his music to his old bandmates for feedback. He sent his current record THE SHOW to Louis Tomlinson. Harry Styles also seems to rely a lot on the cohesion among the “1D boys”. When he was named artist of the year at the BRIT Awards 2023, he also thanked his former band members.
