NHL – Yandle breaks 35-year-old record – NHL – Ice Hockey

In total, Yandle played more than 1,000 games for different teams: He made his debut with the Phoenix Cojotes (later Arizona Coyotes), before spending two seasons with the New York Rangers and a few years with the Florida Panthers. He has been with the Philadelphia Flyers since 2021. He was nominated for the NHL All-Star Game four times, most recently in 2019.

No break despite lost teeth and Corona

A few times his record streak threatened to be interrupted: In a game in November 2019, several teeth were knocked out, but after extensive dental work, Yandle played with a special mask the following afternoon. “That’s how ice hockey players are built,” Yandle said on Sunday.

Remarkable: Even in times of the corona pandemic, he did not miss a single possible game. But Yandle has to be careful: A potential successor is lurking in Phil Kessel from his former team, the Arizona Coyotes. Kessel played 941 games in a row – and is a year younger.

Flyers break record for defeats

The effort wasn’t the game’s only record: The Flyers’ loss was their 13th in a row – the number of times they hadn’t lost in the NHL before.
