Stanley Cup winner Nico Sturm is moving from champions Colorado Avalanche to the San Jose Sharks within the North American ice hockey professional league NHL.
There, the native of Augsburg received a three-year contract, as announced by the Sharks. Further details of the new working paper were not published.
“Nico is a big and powerful forward,” said Mike Grier, the Sharks general manager. “He’s shown he can play consistently and create a goal threat. He’s also helped Colorado win a Stanley Cup.” Several German professionals have already played in San Jose: Marco Sturm, Christian Ehrhoff, Marcel Goc and Lean Bergmann.
27-year-old Nico Sturm is coming to Augsburg on July 23. The trophy won will be on display in the Curt Frenzel Stadium, on the Rathausplatz and in the Rathaus.
