Regrets about the absence of the family
Ovechkin regretted that his wife and two sons are in Russia and could not attend the milestone in his career. “Obviously it sucks that my kids haven’t seen it, my wife hasn’t seen it, my parents, but they’re looking at home. They’re happy and that’s the most important thing.”
The goal was Ovechkin’s 72nd scoring point this season. At the top of that list is Connor McDavid, who pulled away with one hit and one assist to 85 points in the Edmonton Oilers’ wild 7-5 win over the Detroit Red Wings and is now two points clear of teammates Leon Draisaitl and Den’s Jonathan Huberdeau Florida Panthers.
