NFL superstar Tom Brady got quite a mess with his Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Against the San Francisco 49ers it was a hearty 7:35 pack. The quarterback was still at 180 after the game ended.
Compared to the “San Francisco Chronicle”, Brady did not want to go into detail in his match analysis. Still, his choice of words spoke volumes. “Some things I don’t worry about. F*ck this. I’m going home.”
Brady grew up near San Francisco and, according to his own statements, had given away more tickets to friends and relatives than in his many Super Bowl appearances. The heavy defeat probably weighed twice as heavily for the playcaller.
“I’m sure they left, they did,” Brady said of his followers. “I don’t want them out there in that shit. It was horrible. We failed,” was the Buccs quarterback’s unvarnished verdict.
NFL icon reconsiders retirement
Brady had a used day against the 49ers. With his two interceptions, he repeatedly presented his team with challenges. In addition, he brought only 33 of his 54 passes to the man. The game is symbolic of the bad season of the NFL legend.
The future Hall of Famer ranks a little 33rd among the league’s other playmakers in yards gained per attempt (6.2). Tampa Bay is currently 6-7 due to the 45-year-old’s form crisis.
Brady, meanwhile, is considering postponing the end of his career, which was planned for 2023. NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero believe Gisele Bundchen’s ex-husband is evaluating his options for the spring.
The current season would have made for a poor farewell tour indeed for a pro like Brady, who has won seven Super Bowl rings in his career. Even if he makes the playoffs, he and the Buccs face a long offseason in their current form.
