NFL star Daniel Jones can look forward to a heavy rain of millions. The quarterback recently agreed on a mega contract with the New York Giants. Now the franchise player has spoken out about the deal and its implications.
160 million US dollars (around 151 million euros) for four years: The big payday is coming up for Daniel Jones in the NFL. The crazy amount that the 25-year-old will receive in the coming seasons also increases expectations from the outside.
“I’ve always felt that responsibility,” Jones said at a New York Giants press conference. “When you play in that position, especially for a team like the New York Giants and this city, you have that responsibility. I take that very seriously .”
Jones was selected sixth overall in the 2019 NFL draft. Last season, the quarterback led the New York Giants to the divisional round, beating the Philadelphia Eagles (7:38).
Overall, the past season was a success for Jones. The quarterback only threw five interceptions and was therefore significantly more reliable than in previous years.
Daniel Jones wants to keep proving himself in the NFL
The new mega contract does not change his attitude, according to Jones. “My goal is to earn that every day and in the offseason as we prepare for the season and then when we’re in the season to do my best and prepare this team to win games and to put myself in a position to do that. So yeah, I take that responsibility very seriously,” said the NFL star.
Giants GM Joe Schoen said Wednesday, “I truly believe that our team and Daniel’s work ethic and their relationship with each other will continue to grow and that Daniel can do even better.”
