Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during an NFL game earlier this year. Thankfully, the Buffalo Bills safety recovered quickly and continues to cling to his comeback dream.
On Thursday, Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane provided an update regarding Hamlin. At the press conference, the managing director revealed that he only recently spoke to the professional and received clear signals.
Beane said Hamlin’s recovery is “going in the right direction.” In addition, the defender still has “every intention to play”.
The Bills also watched their player every step back onto the NFL stage. “We’re going to put him through everyone (medical consultations) and then make sure all of our medical staff hear all of those opinions on every visit and make sure we’re all on the same page,” Beane explained.
So the organization is very careful with Hamlin. After all, she absolutely wants to spare her safety another death struggle.
NFL community shared in Damar Hamlin’s fate
On January 2 of this year, the Buffalo Bills played the Cincinnati Bengals in the penultimate game day of the regular season. Damar Hamlin collapsed mid-game after a tackle on Tee Higgins and had to be resuscitated.
The game was then stopped and not repeated. As Hamlin fought for his life at the University of Cincinnati Hospital, fans gathered in front of the building to pray for the afflicted man.
In Week 18, the NFL also called on its teams to stand in solidarity with Hamlin and the Bills. For example, the professionals wore shirts with the imprint “Love for Damar 3” during the warm-up. The number three represents the shirt number of the defensive player.
