NFL-RB waiting for new contract in front of Raiders building

Josh Jacobs is one of the running backs who had hoped in vain for a new offer from their team in the past few days. The NFL star of the Las Vegas Raiders apparently believed in an agreement until the very end.

On Monday at 10:00 p.m. (CEST) the time had come: The deadline for all NFL professionals with a franchise tag had expired. The players were only allowed to negotiate a long-term contract with their organizations up to that point.

Josh Jacobs previously had intensive discussions with the Raiders in order to finally come to a common denominator. A solution seemed within reach. According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Journal Review, “both sides made significant progress in the last few hours before the deadline.”

NFL Network expert Tom Pelissero tweeted how confident Jacobs was. Taking to social media, he described how the running back was lurking in the parking lot outside the Raiders building so he could close the deal at the last second.

NFL: Is Josh Jacobs Skipping Raiders Training Camp?

Notoriously, Jacobs was not rewarded for his patience. Las Vegas did not make an appealing offer to the 25-year-old in the final meters. The next few days and weeks will show how the offensive player reacts to this disappointment.

“Fox5 News” correspondent Paloma Villicama assumes that Jacobs will not participate in the Raiders’ training camp without a new contract. Should this boycott extend to the entire season, the team from Nevada faces a severe loss.

Jacobs, who was picked by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft, led the league with 1,653 rushing yards last season. The RB also broke the 1,000-yard mark in three of his four NFL seasons. Those strong performances culminated in two Pro Bowl nominations.
