Brock Purdy, the last pick in the NFL draft, celebrates his starting formation premiere – and convinces as a quarterback against the Buccaneers.

As Brock Purdy from the San Francisco 49ers As the last football player to be selected in the NFL draft, he was traditionally immediately guaranteed a title: “Mr. Irrelevant“. This “Mr. Insignificant” was now on the court for the first time in the NFL, against a team of Tom Brady, who had his first super bowl won when Purdy was a toddler.

And what happened? Purdy scored one touchdown himself, threw the pass for two more and clinched a 35-7 win over Bradys with the San Francisco 49ers Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is now the first quarterback in NFL history, who made his first starting XI against a Brady team and did not lose. All of this was made possible because Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance are both injured – and Purdy is now very relevant for the 49ers.

“It was unreal”, Purdy reported on meeting Brady on the pitch after the game. “As a kid, I saw him pull it off in all the Super Bowls over the years, and now to be able to high five with him, that’s pretty cool.”
