The entire NFL world is holding its breath following Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest. Neither the Cincinnati Bengals nor the Buffalo Bills players are thinking about football these days. Aaron Rodgers is therefore talking about a postponement of the game plan.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback only watched Hamlin’s collapse from a distance. But he also takes part in the fate of the safety, who still fears for his life in the intensive care unit.
Rodgers said on Tuesday that as a player you can’t just carry on like this. “I think there has to be a conversation about it. I don’t think you can just sugarcoat it and say ‘oh let’s go to the Sunday Night Football game for the playoffs,'” A-Rod explained on Pat McAfee’s show.
The Packers playmaker instead pleaded for a temporary NFL suspension. “Let’s take a little time out here. Let’s remember what’s really important.” These are the people who should be given more importance than sport.
Hamlin keeps NFL icon Rodgers awake
Rodgers thinks he knows how current and former colleagues are feeling after Hamlin’s collapse. “Whether they’re playing or they’re done, they’re shattered because they don’t think they’ll ever see something like this on the field.”
The otherwise hard-bitten playcaller also admitted that Hamlin’s collapse is bothering him. “This kid is 24 years old, right? That really blew my mind last night,” Rodgers admitted.
Damar Hamlin required several minutes of cardiac arrest during the game against the Bengals. According to his uncle, a second resuscitation took place in the ambulance. The family announced that Hamlin’s condition is critical but stable.
