Tyron Smith will end his career in the NFL and does so as a member of the Dallas Cowboys.

Smith (34) will announce his end of his career as part of a press conference scheduled on Wednesday in the team complex of the Dallas Cowboys in Frisco/Texas. This reported several media on Tuesday.

Smith, who was active for the New York Jets in the previous year, was drawn by the cowboys as 9th pick in the NFL Draft 2011 and, after one year, acted as a right tackle as the LEFT Tackle of the team and is considered the legend of the organization.

Even more: he started all 171 games of his career and was the first offensive Lineman in 2011 that the cowboys had drawn in the 1st round of the draft since 1981 (Howard Richards).

For his resignation, he now signs a ceremonial one-day contract to officially cede as a cowboy.

Smith added injuries for a long time

Smith played for the cowboys for 13 years and was elected eight times in the Pro Bowl, and also made it twice to the All-Pro First Team of the “Associated Press”. From 2020, however, serious injuries to knees, neck, back, thighs and ankles had repeatedly thrown him back, so that from 2020 to 2022 he only played 17 out of 50 possible games.

In the past two seasons, he had at least 23 out of 34 possible missions for the cowboys (13) and jets (10).

In the cowboys, he will be remembered as part of an extremely dominant offensive line that consisted of him for many years, Guard Zack Martin and Center Travis Frederick, who were elected to the Pro Bowl in five seasons. Martin also ended his career a few weeks ago, Frederick after the 2019 season.

Smith will be included in the Ring of Honor of the Cowboys at least in the near future, but an inclusion in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton/Ohio should not be long in coming, especially since he is already part of the all-decade team of the 2010s of the Hall of Fame.
