NFL: Colin Kaepernick May Face Return – American Football

The 34-year-old would become a colleague of German professional Jakob Johnson, who joined the team in the spring. Kaepernick had recently shown his current level of performance during a training session with NFL scouts. The teams had not offered the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback a new contract after kneeling at the national anthem. Only the Seattle Seahawks invited him to a trial in 2017, but no agreement was reached.

Kaepernick’s peaceful protest against racism and police violence caused a stir. In the meantime, there was an out-of-court settlement with the NFL over his complaint that he was subsequently discriminated against. Kaepernick, once considered one of the best playmakers in the league, had led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl final at the end of the 2012 season.
