NFL: Cleveland coach Stefanski is breaking new ground

In the last few weeks there have been pictures and videos from the training camps, on which shreds flew when packs were formed. Especially in the joint units with other NFL teams, things rattled again and again. Kevin Stefanski, coach of the Cleveland Browns, does not want incidents of this kind and is now threatening his team with unusual penalties.

As Albert Breer of “Sports Illustrated” reports, the Browns’ trainer has come up with something special for the last week of the preseason:

Any regulars who get into a fight while training together must play in the following preseason game. However, when a stand-in fighting for a spot on the roster gets into a fight, he sits out the third preseason game and misses a chance to qualify for the team.

The background is as understandable as it is logical: The regular players, who have a place on the roster, would of course be happy about a weekend without stress. Likewise, the risk of injuring yourself before the season would also be significantly lower.

On the other hand, there are a number of players fighting for free spots in the squad. In addition to the impressions from the training, it is of course also carefully examined how the players do in the game. If you miss this chance to present yourself there due to a fight, it could end up costing you your job.
