NFL: Bills player needs to be resuscitated on field

in the NFL-Game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills A serious medical incident has occurred.

Damar Hamlin, defender of the Buffalo Billssuffered a cardiac arrest, collapsed during the game on Monday evening (01/02/2023; local time) after a defensive action in the middle of the first quarter, had to be resuscitated on the field and was then taken to a hospital.

After a collision with Cincinnati wide receivers Tee Higgins got Hamlin back on his feet before falling backwards and lying motionless.

The American football league NFL announced that Hamlin’s health was “critical“. The match ended at a score of 7:3 for cincinnati canceled.

Medical treatment in the field

“Hamlin received immediate medical attention on the field from the team, independent doctors and paramedics. He was then rushed to a local hospital and is in critical condition. Hamlin’s agent Ira Turner explained: “We don’t have an update (on his condition) at this time. Keep the player’s family in your prayers.”

Cancellation after 90 minutes of interruption

After Hamlin was transported off the field by an ambulance, players of the bills together and knelt in a circle on the floor. The Bills head coach Sean McDermott, opposite number Zac Taylor and the referees spoke afterwards and it was decided to stop the game for the time being.
