NFL | After horror season in the shape of his life

Russell Wilson was a Seattle Seahawk for ten years, even winning the Super Bowl with the West Coast men in 2013. Before the last NFL season, the 34-year-old went to the Denver Broncos with a blockbuster trade, where he was supposed to solve the long-standing playmaker problem. The season was anything but satisfactory for both the Broncos and Wilson. Now he’s working like crazy for the new season – and feels “better than ever”.

At least that’s what the quarterback said in a media round at the Broncos OTAs. “You always want to be in the best possible shape. I’m ready for it, I feel better than ever,” said the 34-year-old.

This statement is supported by a training video that Wilson recently shared on social networks. The video shows the quarterback toiling away for the new season. It is immediately noticeable that Wilson looks much fitter than was the case last season.

Physical fitness is essential to Wilson’s style of play, after all, the 34-year-old is arguably the best dual-threat quarterback of the last decade. And its new shape has boosted confidence too. So Wilson not only feels great, but also “lean, ready and focused”.

NFL: Can Wilson regain his old strength with a new coach?

Wilson certainly had no reason for great self-confidence in the preseason. Armed with offensive weapons like Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy, many pundits had expected a strong Broncos offense. However, this expectation was not fulfilled.

Through the air, Wilson only rushed for 3,524 yards and 16 touchdowns from 11 interceptions. In the end, despite a solid defensive performance, it was only enough for a 5-12 record.

But in 2023 everything should get better. In addition to a fit Wilson, new coach Sean Payton should also help. The longtime head coach of the New Orleans Saints is considered one of the best offense coaches and will try to live up to that reputation.

And perhaps the 59-year-old can help Russell Wilson regain his old strength. Then not only the Broncos fans should look forward to the spectacle.
